CYC brought participants to the Kernstown Battlefield with Scotty Edwards, where the kids were provided with a backpack containing essential items to construct a tent. Following minimal instruction from Scotty, the kids successfully assembled their tent after gathering suitable materials. The program proceeded with three simulated battles, during which the children gained insight into the visual and auditory experiences, as well as the physical endurance, of Civil War soldiers, specifically the Ohio 8th regiment. It was notable that the kids demonstrated impressive strategic and problem-solving skills.
